Being an American isn’t about your political party, or your race, or your sexual orientation, or what kind of car you drive, or the music you listen to, or any other ridiculous distinction we want to draw between one another. It doesn’t matter if you were born here or if you became a citizen later in life. We don't care about any of that crap. What matters is that you are dedicated to the fundamental principles on which this country was founded. And that basically boils down to believing that everyone should have the right to do whatever they want as long as they aren’t harming others. But beyond that, it means that you are doing something with the freedom this country provides you.
